Maintaining snowshoes is fairly easy, and there are only a few things to do. However, it is essential to do so to prolong their lifespan, as they will be stored in your home most of the year.

The deck, often made from plastic and bindings, in resistant fabric, can be cleaned and mud removed  with a light brush.

The strap buckles must also be cleaned for them to keep working. Then dry them well before placing your snowshoes in storage.


Like the edge on skis, crampons and the plate on snowshoes can rust. This phenomenon is normal and does not require any particular attention. Using the snowshoes in the snow will remove the light layer of rust.

To prevent damage to your snowshoes, avoid brushing them, or use of abrasive paper. The best way to prevent rust on the metal parts of snowshoes is to dry them care fully after each use. If you do this, you can check the tightening of nuts.
