By foot, hand or electric inflation... Here we give you all our advice for choosing the most suitable pump for your camping mattress or tent.
THE CHOICE OF A PUMP DEPENDS ON THE FOLLOWING 4 CRITERIA: COMPATIBILITY, SPEED OF INFLATION, EASE OF INFLATION AND FOR ELECTRIC PUMPS THE ENERGY MODE.
The first criteria to take into account when choosing your pump is its compatibility.
If you are looking for a pump to inflate the inflatable beams of a camping tent, only the red double action hand pump will offer enough power to inflate the tent beams. Equipped with a pressure gauge, this pump provides speed, efficiency, precision and inflation power. It can also be used to inflate a camping mattress.
If you are looking for a pump to inflate a mattress, you can choose between a foot pump, an electric pump or the blue double action hand pump (which does not offer enough power to inflate tent beams but inflates a mattress without no problem).
All Quechua pumps are sold with 3 different nozzles so you can adapt them to the most type of valves.
The second criteria to take into account when choosing your pump is its the speed of inflation. It all depends on the size and inflation system of your pump.
Double action hand pumps work with a reciprocating system, i.e. they inflate both when pressed and when pulled. They therefore require half the effort and inflate twice as fast! Conversely, floor pumps only inflate when pressed. Finally, the electric pumps inflate continuously!
The third criteria that can guide you in your choice is the ease of inflation.
An electric pump is clearly the easy way out because all you have to do is turn it on and your mattress will inflate on its own! It does not need to be recharged.
If you're ready to train your thighs or strengthen your biceps, you have the choice between a foot or hand pump ;)
Finally, a last criteria to take into account if you opt for an electric pump is the type of energy supply :
- if the pump is on battery, then it is rechargeable at home or in the car (via a USB cable, the cigarette lighter socket or a mains socket) and it can be used without being plugged in. A point to check on these pumps is their autonomy.
- if the pump is mains powered, then it plugs into a power outlet and can only run when plugged in. This type of pump is more suitable for indoor use at home.
