The Lost City trek takes you to the pre-Columbian site of Ciudad Perdida, hidden in the middle of the jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Trekkers come here to climb the 1,253 steps up to a fantastic panorama, overlooking the remains of this civilisation which has now disappeared. Century after century, the ancient ruins of the city have been swallowed up by the jungle. Today, only 10% of the ancient city can still be seen, but thanks to the work of the archaeologists, countless new ruins are unveiled each year. Some even compare the Lost City to the famous remains of Machu Picchu.
Despite having a bad reputation for a long time, Ciudad Perdida is now a very popular trekking circuit. This long trek, that lasts 4 to 6 days, will take you to the heart of the Colombian jungle, for a really intense physical adventure. Some physical preparation is recommended before embarking on this trek.
