Depending on where you hike, the season and the weather, how do you choose between a hiking cap, hat, beanie or neck warmer?
There are many head coverings available to protect you from the sun, but also from external elements such as cold, wind, sand, mosquitoes. Depending on where you hike, the season and the weather, we can help you choose the right head protection.
An accessory to cover your head in winter as well as in summer is an essential for a good hike. Whether in the mountains or on rural paths, the head is one of the parts of the body most exposed to the sun and temperature changes. It’s therefore important to cover it well to protect yourself from the risk of sunstroke in summer and to keep warm in winter. It is strongly recommended that you also wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.
In summer, it is better to choose a hat or cap. For bivouacking, neck warmers can also be used to protect you during the cool evenings and nights. In the case of strong exposure to the sun, choose a cap with some neck protection. Do not hesitate to apply sun cream at the same time.
In spring or autumn, and in winter, in addition to some sun protection, it is your hat and neck warmer that will give you the protection from the cold that you need.
